There are many reasons to feel proud about the individuals and organizations that make up the 12th Council District, but one of the best reasons is how engaged our community is in volunteering to improve the quality of life in our district. This week, I'd like to take a moment to thank the Coalition of American Canyoneers which recently held a clean-up at the iconic Stoney Point Park and Recreation Area.
Last Saturday, the club brought together over 50 volunteers to clean up trash and remove graffiti on the rocks to restore this historic recreation area to its natural state. The difference that can be made by a few dedicated volunteers is a heartening example of the power of community pride.
Thanks again to everyone who gave their time on Saturday. If you're interested in learning more about the Coalition of American Canyoneers, please visit their website, here.
